Operating Partner and Co-Founder
Allen Lau is Co-founder and Operating Partner at Two Small Fish. He is also the co-founder and former CEO of Wattpad, where he led a global team using AI to disrupt the entertainment industry. Under his leadership from 2006 to 2022, Wattpad grew its user base to 100 million, raised US$120 million from top VCs, was acquired by Naver for US$660 million in 2021.
He also serves on the board of MaRS Discovery District, North America's largest urban innovation hub, and OpenMind Research Institute, a non-profit focused on AI research, co-founded by Richard Sutton, often called the father of reinforcement learning in AI. In 2025, he and his wife, Eva Lau, made a $2 million donation to establish the Eva and Allen Lau Commercialization Catalyst Prize for Computing & Engineering Innovation at the University of Toronto. Allen received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Toronto’s Electrical Engineering program. In 2020, he was inducted into the Engineering Alumni Hall of Distinction at the University of Toronto.
